Invisible Children: Purpose marketing & doing the right thing
Thanks to Matt Blint for turning us onto this promo for Invisible Children. Frankly, the world would be a much better place if we spent our time (marketing and otherwise) making things like this work. From the living room to the board room.
With some real focus, more of these types of things will happen ... marriages of causes and commerce, beyond the "We Are The World" videos (which by the way, they're making another version of ... sure to be lame). One of the biggest and brightest opportunities of the internet is it's ability to give new voices to the struggles of people around the world and a no-limit creative outlet for galvanizing interest and most importantly, action.
If you've ever read Ishmael Beah's A Long Way Gone, you'll see the same types of characters running the Ugandan outfits that are running the ones in Seirra Leone and other countries in Africa.
